Loughborough Dishley & Hathern

Loughborough North Branch - Hathern & Dishley Ward

The area covered comprises the communities of Hathern, Dishley, and Gorse Covert, plus some isolated dwellings and Farms.

From the outskirts, but not households, of Long Whatton and Zouch to the North, following the river Soar to Blackbrook, and then picking up Warwick Way, then Blackbrook. The western boundary is formed by some fields and Hathern Rd and Oakley Wood.

Despite the boundary lines mostly being rural, they manage to encompass a whole village, Hathern, with its own Parish Council, plus mainly private housing of 1970’s Dishley, 1980’s & 1990’s Gorse Covert, but with some social housing in both, along with Housing Association four storey flats of Warwick Way.

There are three primary schools, Hathern; Robert Bakewell; and Stonebow. Churches are Hathern and Thorpe Acre C of E and Gorse Covert Free Church.

Community Centres are at Hathern Pasture Lane and Gorse Covert (adjacent Morrisons ).

The ward will expand by 3500 homes, a school, and other community buildings with the planned new build on Garendon Estate to the West.
